Christmas '08

Awesome. That is the best way to describe our Chritmas this year. Well, maybe blessed beyond measure is better. Ok. Awesomly blessed beyond measure. Got it. Anyhow, it was good. Mck got home and got warm after learning about cold in Minneapolis. There were some 70* days while she was here. Jamie had time off to spend with all of us. And Rick was even around for most things. Michael, Jamie's fiancee, spent some time with us and got to know the family a little better. He still plans to marry into the family. Because of his going into the navy palns, the wedding date is a bit iffy.

I got a 22 rifle for Christmas, and yes, I did ask for it. The weather was super nice Chritmas Day so we ditched our tradition of going to the movie and went shooting instead. Mcki had never shot a gun, and Jamie only a few times. Mck was better with my pistols, a 45 and a 380. Jamie was better with the rifle. The very first thing I aimed at with my rifle, I hit. Booyah!!!!

Jamie, Rick and Mcki are all back at work. Our dryer died so I went shopping for that yesterday. The new washer and dryer arrive this week. Then I ate sugar cookies and fudge and took a nap. THEN I went to Curves. Today, Rick took all the cookies to work. There are a few things I have absolutley no control over and no desire to have control over. One of those is my appetite for my special sugar cookies.

The decorations are coming down slowly but surely with a lot of dusting going on. Hey, some of those places may not get dusted again for a year. I'm taking my time and doing it right. Now I'm gonna take a shower and go to Curves. I have a lot of cookies to work at not becoming permanent on my body.

FINALLY

Well, it finally got cold. It is hard to get a good dose of Christmas Spirit when it is 70* outside and you're wearing shorts, which means you still have to be shaving your legs and it is
Dec. 20th. I had to go to an afternoon Christmas party. What was I suppose to wear, an
Easter frock? It's a good thing I have red Birkenstocks and green Birkenstocks. And, oh yeah, I'm the only person I know that has a Santa Hawaiian shirt. I get a lot of use from it in West Texas. And because it is 70* one day and 35* the next, I keep a nice peicure all year round. Merry Christmas.

GRINCH

The Grinch must have stolen my Joyful spirit. It has been a rough day. The bank's computers are still down and prolonging our banking nightmare. Don't let your wallet get stolen!!!!! Rick has spent hours on line trying to put credit freezes on his name and ss #. He has had to get new DL and has been to the ss office. Now we have to change all our banking. This would be a hassle anytime, but right at Christmas is especially rough. Today has really sucked.

But tomorrow will be another day and I will just have to get a grip and get joyful again.

I need chocolate.

YUCK and YEAH kind of day

Yeah for getting a few more things done and ready for Christmas. Cards are in the mail. I found the top of the dining room table and I am no longer the mother of A TEENAGER. Jamie turned 20. And that is a YEAH. The thingy that is suppose to stop the neighbor's dogs from barking came in the mail. It will be a great big YEAH if it works.

The yuck, and it is a big yuck, is my DH left his wallet at a local restaurant and it was stolen. More important than all the cash, and he had a wad of cash to go buy me rifle for Christmas, was his DL, military ID, SS card, credit and debit cards. Even a card with our bank acct #. Now we are doing damage control. And right when I thot I had Christmas undercontrol. HA.

But we are blessed. Right now I'm cooking food for a funeral dinner at church. A 30 yr old mother of 2 died of a heart attack. It does help to keep a proper perspective.

Observations from the mall

Today I was doing a volunteer shift at the mall. Call me crazy. I made several observations. 1) Just because you can get into red spandex pants doesn't mean you should get into spandex pants no matter what the color or the season. 2) If you dress goth and go in and out of the mall several times in an hour, you are quite likely to get searched by no less than 3 police men. 3)Midland must be an especially boring place to live as there is an especially large number of pregnant females. 4) There are magic pants that absolutley defy gravity and make the male population walk REAL strange. 5) There are some really cute kids. 6) There are some not so cute adults. 7) If you have a 1 year old on your hip and your 2 year old is pitching a hissy fit while you try to drag her and your packages out of the mall, GET OFF THE CELL PHONE and take a class on birth control! 8) Over Thanksgiving weekend, Midlanders consumed 95 buckets of mints. 290 mints per bucket. You do the math. 9) Smiles are free and hugs are especially special when coming from friends you haven't seen in a while.

IS IT OVER OR HAS IT JUST BEGUN?

Well, for those of you who wondered if I survived the elections results, I did. I did not watch. I just turned it on long enough to see the results and see McCain's marvelous concession speech. I cried that such an honorable man had been so dissed by this country for someone like obama. God is in control and HE put into the office who HE wanted and HE will be glorified. We don't have to get over it, but we do have to deal with it. I have on my big girl panties and am dealing quite nicely thanks to fine prescription drugs!!!! Just kidding. I use generics. JOKE!!!

How, you ask, am I dealing with it? Well, don't call me anymore if you need to know what is going on in the world. I can't watch the news yet. I heard the words 'President obama' and nearly threw up. Seriously. Then I heard the words 'First lady michelle obama.' I promise you, my stomach lurched AGAIN. I may be on to a new diet. Seriously, if you need to know country musics top 20, Today's hot pick or special value on HSN or QVC. Call me. I am in the know. I can even give you the weather report for all of the U.S. of A. If I start to watch THE PRICE IS RIGHT, please come take care of me.

I was gonna rename my cat. Her name is LS which stands for 'Little Shit' because that is what she is. She is black. Very black. Not a white hair on her. She is psycho. Never know if she is gonna love you or bite you or both. She's not paricularly pretty. Really wacked out cat. I was gonna name her LSM, for "Little shit michelle" in honor or you know who. My friend said I should be ashamed for doing that to my cat. OK. I'll just let her be plain ole LS.

Just let it be over!!!!!

Am so sick and tired of this election. I saw a great Obama commercial this morning. Jez, it made me want to vote for him. I swear it was so convincing. He was telling us all the things HE was gonna do. Actual miracles in U.S. government. Sounded like a king to me. It scares me to think our country has gone so far down. I have on my ANOTHER SMALL TOWN RELIGION CLINGING GUN TOTING AMERICAN VOTING FOR MCCAIN PALIN shirt today. On Wed. I may have to go have a t shirt made that says I SEE STUPID PEOPLE. But God can work a miracle if He wants to. Or HE can give us just what we have been asking for. No matter, God will be glorified in all things.

help

This is a lame attempt at blogging. I have done this all by myself so who knows if it will work.

People are always asking my opinion, and I sooooo willingly give it. :-) I need to learn how do post pictures of me, yippee, but also of the things I love and of the things I've done.

Maybe if I 'whine' on line, I won't whine so much. Right.

I have so much to whine about right now. The election is driving me crazy. Not just because of who is running, but because I'm just freaking tired of it. I wish I believed it was all gonna be over on the 4th. But am afraid that ain't the case.

I'm tired of being hot. Today I shaved my legs and put on shorts. They say we're gonna get a cold front that will drop our temps to 73*. Woo. Scare me.
